Dr. AbouGalala is a consultant Emergency and Disaster Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) since 1998.  Chairman of HMC Corporate Facility Management and Safety Committee, HMC. From 2017 till 2020 he was the Executive Director for Major Incident Planning at Hamad Medical Corporation and Consultant in Emergency Preparedness and Response department at Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), State of Qatar and recently appointed as Coordinator and member of Qatar Health Relief Committee, MOPH.

He is a Board Certified in Emergency Medicine from Jordanian Medical Council in 2007, and he is holding Master Degree in Disaster Medicine, from Italy and Belgium and a Master in Medical Education from Maastricht University (Netherland).

He is heavily involved in National Emergency and Disaster Management holding many posts being the Coordinator of the National Health Emergency Management Committee, National Pandemic Preparedness Committee. He was leading the development of the National Health Emergency Management framework in the Ministry of Public Health, state of Qatar. He serves as Medical Director and Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Emergency Medical Service Program, Doha University - Qatar.

Nationally he was a Member in Many National Emergency Management Committees includes, Hamad International Airport Emergency and Safety Committee, Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar Petroleum, Member of the National Shelter Committee, Ministry of Interior, Coordinator and Member of the Strategic Stockpile Committee, MOPH, and Member of Emergency Preparedness Committee MOPH which is the strategic committee for Health Emergency Preparedness. Founder Member of Hamad International Training Centre. He supervised the development and directing many national major incident drills in the state of Qatar. 

Regionally and internationally he is holding the following positions:

He is Consultant to World Health Organization Academy for training Mass Causality Management. Member of the scientific Committee of the Diploma in Disaster Medicine and Management for Health Professional Ministry of Public Health and Population - Egypt, Member of the Regional Consultancy Committee for Disaster Safe Hospital, Regional Office for the East Mediterranean (EMRO), World Health Organization (WHO). WHO Temporary Advisor and Expert, Emergency Preparedness and Humanitarian Action Program and International Health Regulation (2005). Regional Office for the East Mediterranean (EMROWHO). Temporary Advisor to WHO – EMRO in Disaster Risk Reduction, Member of the Radiation Emergency Medical Preparedness and Assistance Network (REMPAN) - WHO, Member of the International Working Group Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG) Manchester -UK, Member of the Global Development Committee, International Trauma Life Support, USA, Founder Member of the Arab Resuscitation Council. He is international speaker in the field of Disaster Management, CBRNe.

Dr. AbouGalala is an International Educator, Instructor and Course Directors and developer of Training programs and modules in Trauma, Adult and Pediatric Resuscitation, and Disaster Management affiliated with many international organizations such American College of Surgeon, European Resuscitation Councils and Advance life Support Groups (UK) and ICRC (Geneva). 

He helped in establishing Trauma and Disaster Management training centers in UAE, Oman, Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, Syria, Jordan, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Rwanda. He is a supervisor of Master Degree and PhD researchers. Chief Editor of the Hazmat Life Support, 1st Edition.
