Tatiana Lúcia Santos Nogueira is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Brazilian Army, pharmacist, professor and researcher with over 30 years of experience in laboratory analysis in the areas of biochemistry, molecular biology and genomics. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, a Master’s degree in Pathology from Fluminense Federal University in Rio de Janeiro, and a PhD in Biosciences/Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology from Rio de Janeiro State University. Since 2016, she has played a pivotal role as a coordinator and analyst in various operations, focus in identification and characterization of microorganisms and laboratory diagnostics such as COVID-19, Zika, Chikungunya, and Mpoxvirus. Her contributions include critical work with specialized team Army Biology Institute, addressing improving technological capabilities in rapid responses to biological threats. Currently, she serves as the head of the Center for Studies in Biological Defense at the Army Biology Institute, overseeing the Forensic Genetics, Molecular Biology, BSL2 and BSL3 Laboratories and coordinating the Graduate Program in Biological Defense. As a researcher, her interests en compass human identification, microbiomes, the detection and identification of biological agents, biosafety, and biodefense. Additionally, she instructs courses on military criminal investigation and expertise at the Army's School of Specialized Instruction, training military personnel in field sample collection and chain of custody applied to CBRN action sand the rapid identification of bioterrorism agents.
