Mr. Patrick C. Riley, Research Chemist at the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC), obtained a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Salisbury University in 2010, where he performed undergraduate research using chemometrics to remove interference from chemical spectra via PCA/PCR analysis. In September 2024, he furthered his education by completing the Data Driven Leadership Program at Carnegie Mellon University.

Mr. Riley is an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) Subject Matter Expert (SME). He has worked in chemical and biological defense for 16 years serving as a Principal Investigator (PI) leading initiatives to include the development of classification algorithms for chemical detection, LLMS for sustainable modelling, and tools for small molecule drug design. Mr. Riley also served as the project lead for CBC’s AI/ML grand challenge, ‘STEWARD,’ from 2020 to 2023, an effort to educate the workforce and fund small AI/ML projects at CBC. Additionally, he provides SME support to outside organizations concerning DoD AI/ML efforts, including Johns Hopkins APL, DEVCOM ARL, DEVCOM SC, MIT LL, PNNL, Sandia National Labs, and IARPA.
