Prof Izzy Norville Senior Principal Scientist at CBH IT, DSTL
Since achieving a first class degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in microbiology from the University of Exeter, Prof Norville has built a successful research career working across UK government, industry and academia. Izzy is currently the Principal Advisor for the Chemical and Biological Hazard, Impact and Treatment (CB HIT) research programme at the Defence Science Technology Laboratory. This programme integrates hazard assessment and medical research to understand and reduce the impact of CB materials on the human. As a molecular microbiologist with extensive experience working with intracellular pathogens, including novel drug development, vaccine research and development of infection models, she leads teams of multi-disciplinary scientists to deliver cutting-edge research for UK Defence. She provides strategic direction, technical assurance and capability development. Izzy also works closely with academia to harness innovative and new solutions to Defence problems.
