Former Director of U.S. Strategic National Stockpile, Kindeva Drug Delivery

Greg Burel is President and Principal Consultant for Hamilton Grace, LLC. Hamilton Grace LLC focuses primarily on delivering advisory services related to medical material supply chain and health emergency preparedness and response issues. Previously, Mr. Burel led the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Strategic National Stockpile (SNS). Mr. Burel was Director of the SNS for nearly 13 years and was its first Senior Executive Service leader. Prior to his leadership at SNS, Mr. Burel developed an extensive background in supply chain management in federal government service that began in 1982. In addition to HHS, his service includes management roles with increasing responsibility with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), General Services Administration (GSA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He retired from Federal Service on January 3, 2020. 

Mr. Burel was selected as a member of the Senior Executive Service and joined HHS in April 2005. He was initially assigned as Management Officer for the newly created National Center for Public Health Informatics (NCPHI). In March 2007, he assumed the leadership of the Strategic National Stockpile. In this role, Mr. Burel directed the nation's premier medical materiel preparedness and response organization charged with delivering critical medical assets to the site of a national emergency. 

Mr. Burel holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University. He is a graduate of the Federal Executive lnstitute's Leadership for a Democratic Society, Harvard University Kennedy School of Government National Preparedness leadership Initiative and has completed numerous courses in process improvement, contracting, finance and Incident Command. In 2016 Mr. Burel was awarded the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal for Management Excellence and selected as a Fellow, National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA). Mr. Burel is also a Franz Edelman Laureate. He volunteers with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and has held numerous appointed and elected offices. He and his wife, Sandra Stine, have one daughter, Julia, and reside in Alpharetta, Georgia.
