Danny Heerlein is Project Officer for Counter-IED at the European Defence Agency. He holds academic degrees in Computer Science from the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich and in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. His professional background includes service in air defence and infantry, with a strong focus on Counter-IED and Counter-UxS, including technical exploitation at Levels 1–3 and analysis of adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures. He has served in analytical and operational roles with NATO and has extensive deployment experience, including assignments in Afghanistan and multiple UN and EU training missions in Africa.
