Dr. Wolfe currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Division of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Medical Countermeasures of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). In doing so, he leads the execution of complex programs targeting a range of threats against United States national health security. The goal of the CBRN Division is to ensure that Medical Countermeasures are available for such threats should a CBRN event occur. Dr. Wolfe leads a team of interdisciplinary experts providing technical oversight of the manufacturing, testing, clinical, non-clinical, and regulatory aspects of these programs. He leads the budgeting and execution of programs, ushering priority capabilities across the research and development ‘valley of death’ into advanced development and ultimately to FDA licensure. He and his team continue to improve the preparedness posture for the United States by ensuring the availability of vaccines, drugs, and devices for a range of CBRN threats. His background includes a Ph.D. in Pathobiology, studying mechanisms of vaccine-mediated immunity and vaccine escape.
