Dr Brent A. Mantooth

Research Chemist, US Army DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center
United States

Dr. Brent A. Mantooth has served as a Research Chemist within the Decontamination Sciences Branch at the DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center (CBC) since 2006. He is an internationally recognized subject matter expert in experimental and computational modeling to characterize the mass transport, physics, and chemistry of agent-material-decontaminant interactions. Dr. Mantooth has led the development of pioneering methodologies for chemical decontamination, military coatings, and novel protective material systems. Currently, his work leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning (AI/ML), and advanced modeling and simulation to translate laboratory-scale data into actionable operational health risk assessments for warfighters utilizing decontaminated assets. Dr. Mantooth earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University in 2005. A distinguished researcher, he has authored 34 peer-reviewed publications and 54 technical reports spanning surface science, defense materials, and hazard mitigation.
