BG Jongyul Jun, Commander, ROK Army CBRN Defense Command

Brigadier General Jun Jong-yul currently serves as the 12th Commanding General of the Republic of Korea Army CBRN Defense Command, bringing over three decades of leadership and expertise in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense operations, planning, and policy development.

Born on May 30, 1973, in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, BG Jun was commissioned through the 25th Class of the Officer Candidate School (1995). He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Gangneung University and a Master’s degree from Kyunghee University.

Throughout his distinguished military career, BG Jun has held multiple key leadership and staff positions within the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, including CBRN Operations Branch Chief at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Ops & Intelligence Division (G3) Chief at the CBRN Defense Command, and CB Weapon Policy Officer at the Ministry of National Defense (MND).

He has also commanded several major operational units, notably serving as 11th CBRN Battalion Commander (1st Corps) and CBRN Support Group Commander (25th Division).

As Commanding General, BG Jun leads South Korea’s primary military organization dedicated to CBRN defense readiness, capability development, and operational response, ensuring the nation’s preparedness against evolving weapons of mass destruction (WMD) threats.
