Adjudant-Major (AJM) Jan Vaes currently serves as Head of the Disaster Cell – Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response – at the Military Hospital Queen Astrid. He has 25 years of experience as a Critical Care Nurse and is a Flight Nurse at the Belgian Armed Forces since 1998. During the Brussels International Airport terrorist attacks on the 22nd of March 2016, AJM Vaes was the on-scene Regulator and responsible for the distribution of patients to medical facilities and hospitals. AJM Jan Vaes is co-founder of the CBRNe Medical Team, a unique medical capacity within the Belgian Emergency Medical System (112).
