Lt. Col. André van Wijk, Commander, Dutch CBRN Defense Center, The Netherlands

Lieutenant-Colonel André van Wijk graduated from the Military Academy as Artillery officer in 1993. As junior leader he served in several Joint Fires positions up to Brigade level. He gained operational experiences in SFOR missions in Bosnia-Herzegovina and in ISAF missions in Afghanistan.
After attending the General Command and Staff Course in 2012 he started at Army- and MOD staff. Senior policy positions in strategy & planning, knowledge & innovation and Army reserves brought him to his current position in 2020 as commander of the MOD/Defence CBRN Centre.
Lieutenant Colonel van Wijk has the capacity to be effective at the interface between the MOD and the security side of civil society. With empathy and focus he is connecting people in an operational perspective. He is married, has two grown up daughters and lives in Oosterhout (NLD).
