Dr. Watson serves as the Associate Director of the U.S. Army DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center’s Operational Applications Directorate where he leads strategic initiatives including technical direction and management oversight of the BioTesting Division. He also manages biological testing and evaluation activities for the Major Range and Test Facility Base, and coordinates with DoD and other stakeholders to meet the requirements of the Chemical and Biological Defense Program (CBDP). He is responsible for returning the BioTesting Division to full operational status after a five-year operations moratorium.
Prior to that, he led strategic initiatives for CBDP including management of physical and intellectual infrastructure, and served as a scientific and technical subject matter expert for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Chemical and Biological Defense. He holds a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Maryland.
