Cpt. Monique Cardozo is a Chemical engineer specialized in analytical chemistry, appointed as technical manager of the Chemical Analysis Laboratory (LAQ) in the Chemical area of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense Institute (IDQBRN) since 2012. She has been responsible for leading analysis and research involving dangerous compounds such as chemical products listed in the Chemical Weapons Convention, their precursors, degradation products and study their interactions with the environment and living beings using advanced analytical techniques. As a member of the Brazilian Army, she is also responsible for evaluating, testing and developing detection devices, protective equipment and integrated solutions for personal use in first response. In addition, he has worked in scientific advice to assist in national security decisions, as an analyst in second and third response (doing confirmatory analyzes in national and mobile reference laboratories) and as an instructor in emergency response courses (chemical defense specialist). . Currently, she works as Head of the Chemical Defense Section and as Technical Manager of the LAQ / IDQBRN contributing to the designation, by the OPCW, as the first laboratory in Latin America and the Caribbean with proven competence in the analysis of CWC-related compounds. He has also participated in global events organized in Brazil, such as the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (RIO +20, 2012), World Youth Day (2013), FIFA World Cup Brazil (2014) and Games Rio Olympics and Paralympics (2016).
