ABOUT OUR EVENT
For our fourth NCT Virtual Hub, the panelists will be looking into another challenging CBRNe topic: SynBio and the Threat of Designer Pathogens! Since the completion of the human genome project in 2003, a surge of investments and discoveries has sparked in the fields of gene sequencing and synthetic biology and biotechnology. However, such advancements give rise to new security challenges! Improvements in the accuracy, accessibility, and speed of synthesis technologies and their possible use by malicious actors pose the risk of potentially newly emerging bioterrorism weapons and agents. What is the international stance regarding this threat? How can we deal with it? Which mechanisms exist to tackle it?
Get ready to join us on our online platform on Tuesday, 3 August 2021.
Based on the model of its famous NCT Events, the CBRNe Society will give the floor to high-level panelists during a virtual panel discussion moderated by BG (Ret.) William King, former commander of the US Army 20th CBRNE Command, and Ms. Anna Paternnosto, Vice President, CBRNe Society. In addition to the panel discussions, the virtual industry exhibition will showcase the newest technologies available to counter these threats and the networking areas will provide the opportunity to attendees to interact with each other.
